Nigel Whiskin Bio

Born in 1937, Nigel Whiskin started off his working life as a Probation Officer in Bristol. Five years later he joined the National Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders (NACRO) where he spent the next 18 years building up his experience of processes that deal with offenders.

While at NACRO Nigel, who became an Assistant Director, developed project building and funding expertise including setting up employment training projects for 18,000 offenders!

In the early eighties Nigel set up the first Victim Support Scheme in the United Kingdom in Bristol. For this and other services to the community his work was acknowledged with an MBE.

In 1988 he was appointed to set-up and lead Crime Concern, a pioneering community safety charity. As Crime Concern's founding Chief Executive, Nigel helped establish the Youth Inclusion Programme, Mentoring Plus for young people at risk and neighbourhood safety programmes.

Numerous reports of Nigel's retirement are premature as he continues to be involved with community programmes and as a consultant to Reliance Security Group. Now with Restorative Solutions, he embarks on his latest venture in collaboration with others to promote a, "Smart tool kit for neighbourhood policing."
