Service Delivery Manager: Durham
Paula joined Restorative Solutions in 2015 following a career in the National Probation Service in County Durham. She is an experienced Probation Officer and has worked within HMP Durham, HMP Low Newton, the Courts and the local community. She has delivered group work programmes, 1:1 sessions and has experience of multi-agency working with high risk offenders.
Before joining the Probation Service, she gained experience working with young offenders at a secure training facility and as a Volunteer Coordinator at a mental health organisation. In 2013, she left Probation to take up a role as a Project Manager in a therapeutic setting for people with diverse issues, before returning to the Courts to prepare Pre-Sentence Reports for Northumbria Probation. She was introduced to Restorative Justice in 2000 after attending a 5 day International Conference in Winchester.
She became a trained RJ facilitator in her role as a Probation Officer and was appointed as a Project Manager with Restorative Solutions. Paula managed the Pre-Sentence Restorative Justice Project in Durham Crown Court and recently within the local Magistrates Courts. She has facilitated conferences with serious crime cases and works in partnership with Durham Constabulary and HMP Durham.Having worked for many years within the Criminal Justice System, Paula acknowledges the imbalance of power within the Court system and the lack of the victim’s voice.
Her current role as Service Delivery Manager for Durham enables her to work with victims who want to have the effects of the crime accounted for, and their voice heard. She is passionate about Restorative Justice and the positive impact it can bring to people’s lives.
