UCLAN's Peace and Justice Studies Network launches

In the year of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, UCLan's Peace and Justice Studies Network will be launching.

On Friday 13 July 2018, they will be hosting a launch event which will involve a range of short talks from academics and practitioners discussing ‘best practice’ and new innovations for promoting peace and justice, in various contexts, for example, in the criminal justice system, political, religious, cultural and socio-economic contexts. The event will showcase work promoting culture change, awareness raising, restorative justice, rehabilitation, resilience building and safer environments.

The conference will use innovative techniques to illustrate a range of methods to educate, rehabilitate and transform lives in multiple settings. The aim is to encourage partnerships with a particular emphasis upon future collaborations, sharing best practice, programme development and research design. There will be ample time to network, share ideas, and reflect upon current practices and issues.

The event is free, and is for anyone with an interest in the promotion of peace and justice.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Gary Stephenson, CEO of Restorative Solutions
  • Helena Cryer, Lancashire Constabulary
  • Stephen Brookes
