Restorative Justice & Harmful Sexual Behaviour: A Commentary

Yes. Restorative Justice is completely voluntary for both parties.
If one party, whether that’s the victim or the offender, doesn’t agree to take part, Restorative Justice won’t be possible. However, there may be different avenues to explore. If you would like to take part in Restorative Justice but the other party doesn't, our RJ Facilitators may be able to signpost you to other support options.
For example, if you are a victim of a crime who would like to try to regain a sense of power and control after an offence, or you're dealing with anxiety, low mood, or PTSD, you could be signposted to a mental health organisation. Or, if you are an offender who had committed the offence because of a drug or alcohol issue, you could be signposted to local services that could offer support.
